re: Windows Experience Index

I don't know if the Windows Experience Index has any worthwhile meaning, but there has been a lot of discussion about performance lately, and questions about it.

Here are my results...

7.5: Processor
7.5: Memory (RAM)
7.2: Graphics
7.2: Gaming Graphics
5.9: Hard Drive

re: Windows Experience Index

7.2 - Processor
7.2 - Memory
7.6 - Graphics
7.6 - Gaming Graphics
5.3 - Hard drive

That's with an older Intel quad-core 2.66GHz, 8 gigs of DDR2 ram, a GTS 560, and an old SATA1 Western Digital Raptor drive. I'm going to be replacing all but the video card before launch though. With the price of hard drives going through the roof in the last month I'm almost definitely going SSD.

re: Windows Experience Index

Two years ago when I ran it on my laptop it was at 7.8. Today it's at 2.9. It's a sad sad day for me

7.9: Hard Drive

i7-2500k (OC)
16 gb DDR3 1866 SDRAM
ROG GTX 580 (OC)
128 gb Crucial SSD

A couple things I do before I run the test is run Game Booster 3 and set my anti-virus to gaming mode (bascially what I do before I run any game), and this makes a pretty big difference. Upgrading RAM is always a great idea and I can't recommend getting an SSD enough to anyone, they're amazing.

I completely agree.

My next iMac will definitely have an SSD and Thunderbolt.
