If only WoW's endgame and GW2's graphics/mechanics had a baby layered with the modularity of SWTOR's gear and FFXIV's crafting, then there might be a game worth actually paying for and playing all day every day.
If only...

UPDATE!
Today , 02:19 AM | #2
REPORT POST QUOTE
Short answer... we don't really know at the moment.
They changed a number of things in the game engine to improve bloom, shadow quality and performance. It worked out well for some people (me among them) but a lot of folks are having big problems (crazy memory usage, heavy stuttering, low performance, etc). There are several workarounds for stuttering/performance you can try that may help.
1. Update graphic drivers (I know, but some people have reported that this helps)
2. Disable Shadows
3. Run in Fullscreen (Windowed) instead of Fullscreen
4. Disable Nameplates
5. Change affinity on secondary (lower mem usage) SWTOR process (assign to only 1/2 your cores)
People have reported success with all of these steps in various threads but #3 seems to be the most helpful.

Yep, hopefully Board's issues are resolved with this.

1.4.0b Patch Notes
10/2/2012
General
Improved performance for players using NVIDIA graphics cards in an SLI configuration. (Please use the default SLI setting or AFR2, as AFR1 will result in poor performance with SWTOR.)
Corrected an issue that could prevent players from exiting their personal starship after completing Group Finder content.[/url]

i'm on a battleship trying to take down this evil dragon in one of their ''end-game'' dungeons
i was like whoaaaaaa when he came out. there was this one part where we had to wait for the ships ultimate laser to charge up, and then it shot at the dragon and almost split it in half! (that's why he's at that tower clinging to it while we blow him up :D

Greetings,
I am Protocol Droid M0-T0, Human-Cyborg Relations.
Thank you for contacting us regarding your performance issues with Star Wars: The Old Republic. Our development team are always working hard to improve the game’s performance, however we would like to suggest the following steps to enhance your gameplay experience.
- Open your Options ([Esc] by default), and select “Preferences”
- Go to the “Graphics” tab and then do the following
o Disable VSync
o Set Shader Complexity to “Very Low”
o Set Anti-Aliasing to “Off”
o Set Shadow Quality to “Off”
- Go to the “Nameplates” tab and uncheck “Scale Nameplates with Distance”
If you have an ATI graphics card and it is running in Crossfire mode, please also disable your Crossfire setup using the Catalyst Control Center. If you are unsure on how to do this, please contact ATI for further information.
We also recommend that you have all the options and settings for Star Wars: The Old Republic set to “use default app setting” in your NVidia Control Panel or ATI Catalyst Control Center, as any alterations may impact the game’s performance.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, should you require further assistance with this or any other issue please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Sincerely,
Protocol Droid M0-T0 |
